Aluminum Screws

Image description

The screws in your instrument panel oxidize? The normally build in cross-slot ones do not look nice? A possible alternative are eloxated Aluminium screws. They are available in many colours and lead to a noble touch for your panel.

Important if you use Aluminium screws: the counter nut must be made in any case although from aluminium, in no case made from steel. Otherwise an electro-chemical corrosion takes place and destroys the Aluminium screws in a short time period.

Aluminium screws are available at model-building retailers, electronic retailers although may have some. Unfortunately the prices are quite high in both cases. If you cannot find cheap ones, maybe i can help you: E-mail to WebMaster@GliderDesignParts.de.

Labeling of the Instrument-Panel and the Cockpit

To label the instrument panel as well as the rest of the cockpit a number of stickers can be purchased, which cover the typical symbols of gilders. However the labeling of special control elements like switches or other things is excluded.

As long-lasting, easy to build and with nice optics a combination of a laser-printer and foil-laminator has be found: the standard symbols can be downloaded as update of the flight manual from the most glider manufacturers freely in the world-wide web, special symbols can be set-up using a text- or graphic-program. To avoid mirroring in the canopy, a white font on a black background should be used. After printing out with a laser-printer the paper is covered with a foil using a foil-laminator and afterward cutted out. The mounting in the cockpit is done using double-sided tape, contact-glue or spray-on glue.
